The conclave on ‘Skilling India – Skilling for Healthier India,’ aimed to introduce an integrated approach towards developing well-trained medical professionals

PD Hinduja Hospital & MRC in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Healthcare Sector Skill Council (HSSC) hosted a conclave on ‘Skilling India – Skilling for Healthier India.’ PD Hinduja Hospital & MRC organised a conclave and a panel discussion that aimed to introduce an integrated approach towards developing well-trained medical professionals. On the occasion, Healthcare Sector Skill Council (HSSC) also the launched Western Regional Council.

Addressing the conclave, Dr Sanjay Mukherjee, Secretary, Medical Education & Drugs Department, Government of Maharashtra said, “There is a shortage of trained allied health professionals in the field of healthcare, it is therefore imperative for us to collaborate and introduce courses that can adequately address this shortage by imparting knowledge on diverse and niche skills sets. Curriculums need to be revisited and designed basis the challenges that we are facing today, apart from this we also need to collectively work towards setting high standards for healthcare deliverables in India, putting us on par with the best in global healthcare practices.”

Ashish Jain, CEO, HSSC said, “We have the best of healthcare providers who have come from both public and private sector like pharma companies, medical device companies etc. The ultimate goal for us is to cater to the demands of the overall healthcare sector which will be helpful with the board coming together.”

Joy Chakraborty, COO, PD Hinduja Hospital & MRC and Chairman HSSC West Region said,“Under Skilling India programme we are targeting to generate 50000 skilled work force and job opportunities likewise. The healthcare industry will not be able to accomplish its goals without allied health professionals and it is imperative to equip them with essential tools that can enable them to excel in their respective fields. We aim to train medical professionals who can make a positive impact on the healthcare landscape in India. The Special Guest was Dr Shubnum Singh, Chairperson HSSC & Director, Medical Education and Research, Max Healthcare Institute, Guest of Honour was R Vimala, CEO MSRLM Government of Maharashtra and the key note address was given by Chief Guest Sanjay Mukherjee.

Speakers at the conclave were Jane Karkeda , Regional Director CII Western Region, Ashish Jain, CEO, HSSC and Joy Chakraborty, Chairman HSSC West Region and COO P.D Hinduja hospital and MRC.

The topics of panel discussions were ‘Allied Health Professionals: Role in Transforming Healthcare Delivery’, ‘Challenges in Allied Health Skilling,’ ‘Expectation of services provider organisations from Allied Health Workforce/Training’ and ‘Workforce Crisis in Healthcare learning from the Globe.’
