Jiva Ayurveda signs MoU with THSTI

2 18

With objective of using Ayurvedic diagnostic protocols to detect non-alcoholic fatty liver disease at early stage, and use diet and lifestyle-based treatments to prevent progression of disease

Jiva Ayurveda signed a memorandum of understanding with Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI), an autonomous Institute of Dept of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt of India on December 13, 2019 with the objective of using ayurvedic diagnostic protocols to detect non-alcoholic fatty liver disease at an early stage, and use diet and lifestyle-based treatments to prevent the progression of the disease.

The MoU was signed by Dr Partap Chauhan, Director, Jiva Ayurveda and Prof Gagandeep Kang, Executive Director, THSTI. Globally, millions of people suffer from NAFLD. People over the age of 40 are at a higher risk of developing the disorder, but a growing inclination to replace healthy meals with junk food, and towards unhealthy lifestyle choices has made all groups vulnerable to NAFLD.

Diet and lifestyles are the primary reasons behind NAFLD and since Ayurveda focusses on diet and lifestyle for disease treatment, the MOU will enable researchers to integrate the Ayurvedic perspective in order to develop markers for a more efficient early detection system.
