Employees and partners in North East states and Assam together donate 400 units of blood
Bharti Airtel (Airtel), which is celebrating its 10 years of operations in North East states and Assam, marked the occasion with a noble cause of a blood donation drive dedicating the day to the service of the people in the region. Airtel employees and partners across offices in the region together donated 400 units of blood to government medical college hospital blood banks, government hospital blood banks and Red Cross Society blood banks.
Saurabh Goel, CEO North East and Assam, Bharti Airtel, who also participated in the campaign said, “As a brand we always endeavour to enrich the lives of our customers. We wanted to extend this commitment to the larger society with the blood donation drive as we celebrate 10 years in the region. We hope that our small gesture will go a long way in creating awareness about blood donation in the society.”
According to a recent WHO report, the estimated requirement of blood in India is about 12 million units while the total collection is close to 10 million units annually. The blood banks in North East and Assam especially are in constant need of fresh supply of blood. Airtel thus initiated this campaign to contribute towards driving away this shortage and helping those in need of blood transfusions.
Camps were successfully organised simultaneously across 10 locations including Guwahati, Tezpur, Dibrugarh, Bongaigaon, Silchar, Agartala, Shillong, Aizwal, Imphal and Kohima with the help of the blood banks.
