The test would give insights genetic predisposition to appetite, fat storage and absorption, and BMI
Mapmygenome India has launched a new genetic test SlimGene for weight loss. With this service, weight watchers can get insights into their genetic predisposition to appetite, fat storage and absorption, and body mass index (BMI). Nutritionists and dieticians can recommend diet changes to their clients using the inferences from this test. Mapmygenome has already started collaborating with nutritionists and nutrition clinics and many such partnerships will be announced soon, informed a company release. Anu Acharya, CEO of Mapmygenome, said, “Your genes need not define your jeans. When you know what the genes say, you can easily take charge of other controlling factors to achieve your ideal weight.”
Renowned nutritionist Dr Sujatha Stephen said, “This is definitely going to help put people on the right diet and exercise. Fat absorption and storage varies with every person. This info is goldmine for nutritionists who can personalise diet plans that can actually work.”
