Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in collaboration with Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA) have recently concluded a study on Future of work in the Healthcare Ecosystem.

The report provides a holistic view of key elements required to build the future commercial operating model, post COVID 19. Appended are few insights from the report –

  1. COVID-19 has disrupted traditional channels of interaction between patients, prescribers, and healthcare companies. ~84 per cent doctors leveraged teleconsultations to interact with patients, ~98 per cent doctors were engaged digitally by the healthcare companies
  2. More than 65 per cent of the doctors will restrict physical access to the healthcare companies and will like to engage digitally. Healthcare companies recognise the need to rethink and redesign their commercial operating model for this new normal
  3. The journey towards Future of Work in healthcare is defined through a maturity model across the four elements of digital engagement platforms, new sales call, direct patient connect and commercial organisation of the future
  4. Healthcare companies can choose where to position themselves basis their strategy, prescriber preferences and investment willingness
  5. Adoption of the highest maturity level can result in an improvement of 5-6 per cent in field force productivity, with a 4-5 per cent optimisation and sales and marketing costs

Rahul Guha, Managing Director and Partner,Abhinav Verma, Principal and Natasha Prakash, Consultant at BCG India office have authored the report along with Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance executive council and member companies.
