Includes an industrial grade contactless sensor, communication pod and cloud-based patient monitoring tool with an AI-powered triaging system
Bengaluru-based Dozee has launched Dozee Pro, a contactless vitals monitor for hospitals, featuring an AI-powered triaging system that converts any bed into a step-down ICU in under two minutes and enables remote monitoring of patients outside of the ICU.
Though Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) has been in use in other countries, it is still at a nascent stage in India. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has pushed healthcare practitioners towards remote patient monitoring technologies in India and also globally. As per reports, the Global Remote Patient Monitoring Market is expected to be valued at $2.14 billion in 2027 from $786.4 million in 2019, registering a CAGR of 14.1 per cent through the forecast period.
Recounting her experiences with the product, Dr Vaishali Shelgaonkar, Associate Professor & HOD, Dept. of Anaesthesia, Indira Gandhi Government Medical College, Nagpur says, “Dozee played a crucial role in ensuring we could manage the load effectively by helping us provide care to 150 patients at a time remotely. We are now using Dozee in other areas of patient care where even outside the ICU, we are able to provide 24/7 care and monitor them for any health deterioration.”
Echoing the same, Dr Nishanth, MD, DM, Associate Professor of Cardiology, Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, Bengaluru says Dozee’s contactless RPM and risk based stratification of patients “can be a game changer for patient monitoring in hospitals, at home and for early screening of health disorders.”
On the USP of the product and services, Mudit Dandwate, CEO & Cofounder, Dozee says, “Our focus is to provide a solution for hospitals that is cost-effective without compromising patient care.”
Product specs
Dozee Pro enables the continuous (more than 100 times per hour) and accurate monitoring of a patient’s heart rate, respiratory rate, and other clinical parameters like sleep apnea, myocardial performance metrics without coming in contact with the patient.
It comes with an industrial grade contactless sensor, communication pod and cloud-based patient monitoring tool with an AI-powered triaging system which captures real-time body vitals, and provides round the clock monitoring for patients who were previously manually monitored only every couple of hours.
The Dozee Pro also features an extensible platform where it integrates with other devices such as SPO2 sensor, ECG and temperature sensor to provide the entire suite of vitals parameters including oxygen saturation, body temperature and ECG.
The Dozee Pro captures 250 data samples per second and gives a reading every 30 seconds. This consistent stream of patient data aids the medical staff with early detection of patient deterioration and notifies the care team of any abnormalities before it becomes critical.
Doctors and healthcare teams can remotely monitor the patients’ health from the centralised patient monitor, where at a time, hundreds of patients can be monitored from the web-dashboard and also from a mobile phone app. Custom alerts can be put on every patient, helping doctors optimise treatment plans, focus on deteriorating patients and provide improved proactive care.
Made in India, Dozee Pro was launched with a 98.4 per cent medical grade accuracy after successful clinical trials conducted with over 1000 subjects at NIMHANS and Sri Jayadeva Institute, as per the media handout.
Apart from its use in hospitals, Dozee Pro also allows healthcare providers to remotely monitor patients’ vital signs, receive updates and deterioration alerts from home and other care settings outside the hospital. The solution includes an integrated early warning system for patients in the post-discharge, outpatient settings and hospital-level home care settings. Dozee Pro helps patients, their family members, and healthcare providers with real-time data and alerts, enabling early identification of clinical deterioration.
The release states that Dozee is in use in over 70 hospitals across India, with 4000 devices deployed in hospitals to monitor patients continuously and to help them enhance patient care and clinical outcomes. The company has monitored over 16,000 patients, helping save the lives of more than 250 by early identification of risk and health deterioration and expects to partner with more than 500 hospitals and monitor an additional 200000 patients in the next 12 months.
