T P Jhunjhunwala National Excellence Awards were recently held in New Delhi. One of the award winners was Dr Harvinder Singh Chhabra, Orthopedic and Spinal Surgeon.
Dr Chhabra is the Chief of Spine Services and Medical Director, Indian Spinal Injuries Centre, New Delhi. Besides being the chief architect behind devising the guidelines for prevention and management of spinal injuries in India, which now also stand adopted by the Asian Spinal Cord Network, Dr Chhabra is also the Chairman, Education Committee of International Spinal Cord Society. His current studies include work on stem cells and their application in managing spinal injuries.
The award function was presided over by Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi, eminent Parliamentarian, while TC Chaturvedi, former Governor Karnataka and Kerala, was the Chief Guest. Shila Jhunjhunwala and Dr Yatish Agarwal, the trustees of the foundation announced endowments for Akshay Pratishthan, Gram Jyoti and Association of the Disabled and artificial limbs and aid for the patients of Safdarjung Hospital and St Stephens’ Hospital.
