As part of the forthcoming World Hepatitis Day, the National Liver Foundation plans to conduct events across Mumbai to spread awareness of Hepatitis in general and Hepatitis B and C in particular. Celebrities, eminent doctors and citizens are part of the campaign.

A campaign was launched today at the Press Club by Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff, who sent an email, to the Minister of Health, Govt. of Maharashtra, Suresh Shetty, which calls for ‘Knowing, Confronting and Eradicating Hepatitis’. Shroff and Atul Shah then launched an SMS campaign at the same event.

“It is a serious issue and I’m here to request everyone to participate in this cause. There is very limited awareness about hepatitis. People should know only then they will be careful about it. They say precaution is better than cure. This seriousness can be created by campaigns like this,” said Shroff.

The email and SMS campaign is reportedly part of a Virtual Chain that began prior to the Human Chain which will be formed on the July 27 at Marine Drive in Mumbai.
