Timed with Maharashtra Day, Lokmanya Hospital, Nigdi and Chinchwad is organising a free Orthopaedic Check up a camp on 3rd and 4th May from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. The hospital has taken this initiative to help patients to get rid of joint and back pain and provide them a happy walking experience.
Explaining the rationale for the camp, Dr Narendra Vaidya, Chief Joint Replacement and Spine Surgeon, Lokmanya Hospital Nigdi said, “The country is witnessing large number of people suffering from arthritis in the last few years. Joint pain has become an unfortunate part of daily life. Bone related ailments can hugely affect people’s body and happy living. The objective of this programme is to reduce the pain and help patients return to their normal activities. Our skilled physicians, nurses, and therapists will provide them with support and encouragement in every step of the way.”
The camp will be led by Dr Vaidya along with Dr Umesh Jadhav – Shoulder and Sport Medicine Surgeon, Dr Sachin Khalane and Dr Rakesh Patil – Taruma and Joint Replacement Surgeon.
According to a release, the camp will cover complete free consultation for bone related problems and related symptoms of arthritis. Those patients requiring knee replacement surgery will also be counseled on the implications. Registered patients can avail 30 per cent discount on all diagnostic tests and orthopedic surgery. MRI of joint and spine will also be done at concessional rates.
Arthritis, especially osteoarthritis, is on an alarming rise. According to a recent study there are over 180 million patients in India, some below the age of 25. In addition, this disease is on the rise among women.
Lokmanya Hospital has reportedly performed around 5000 joint replacements till date and is the only centre in Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation region performing navigated total knee arthroplasties (computer assisted total knee replacement).
