Redcliffe Life Sciences has started free online counselling sessions for pregnant women to answer their queries related to lifestyle changes, timings for specific tests, anxiety during pregnancy, etc. The sessions will also address issues both parents-to-be and those whose children have paediatric, neurological, cardiological, oncological, and other related rare diseases. The lockdown has made it difficult for patients with various health conditions and expectant mothers to visit the hospital for check-ups. This initiative is aimed at resolving this gap for them and ensuring they have timely access to consultation.

Crysta, Redcliffe’s mother and child health arm, will help mothers-to-be undertake regular counselling after their consent through a toll-free number and decide the further course of action and diagnosis. The brand has got on board several certified genetic counsellors and regional gynaes and paediatric consultants for the purpose. They will answer general queries around pregnancy including those on lifestyle changes needed, timings for specific tests, previous history of genetic disorders, among other things.

The counsellors will also help undertake risk assessment of the ongoing pregnancy based on earlier test results. Apart from their subscribed doctors and patients, Redcliffe is also trying to reach out to as many as possible this time.

Speaking about this, Dheeraj Jain, Founder, Redcliffe Life Sciences, said, “The coronavirus outbreak has put a heavy burden on India’s healthcare system. After the lockdown, most OPDs have been shut down to avoid the spread of the infection. This can, however, be a tricky situation for those who need regular check-ups and doctor visits including pregnant women. Through our online sessions, we want to enable them to be in touch with specialists and ensure that their pregnancy journey is smooth and without fears or anxiety.”

“Most women in the initial months of pregnancy might miss their NT scan in the 1st trimester due to the lockdown. The final resolve in such cases is an NIPT, which can be done till the 20th week and decision taken on furthering the pregnancy. Most of the queries can be resolved in the first session itself.” says Dr Deepika Kalo, Lead Scientist, Redcliffe Life Sciences.

For access, one can dial the toll-free number 18001213327 and choose option two from the IVR. The call will be diverted to an expert and suitable counselling will be arranged based on the condition.
