National and global experts to gather at IASM event in Mumbai

Dr LH Hiranandani Hospital, Mumbai will conduct the conference in association with Hiranandani Orthopedic Medical Education (HOME) and Indian Association of Sports Medicine (IASM)

Dr LH Hiranandani Hospital, Powai, Hiranandani Orthopedic Medical Education (HOME) and the Indian Association of Sports Medicine (IASM) will jointly conduct IASM’s three day annual conference in Mumbai starting January 9, 2015. With a focus on treatment and management of sports injuries, the conference aims to cater to the core teams of physicians, physical trainers, orthopedics and physiotherapists. More than 300 Indian doctors from the field of Orthopedics, physiotherapists and some of the eminent international faculties from US, UK, Egypt will be participating in the conference to lead sessions on related topics.

The event will reportedly witness the presence of some of the eminent doctors like Dr Sanjay Desai, expert at Arthroscopic and Joint Replacement surgery, Dr Abhay Navelkar, Arthroscopic Surgeon, Dr Jaspal Sandhu, Orthopedic and Dr Mandeep Dhillon, Orthopedic.

Commenting on the genesis of the event, Dr Vijay Shetty, Chairman of the Indian Sports Medicine Conference and Orthopedic at Dr LH Hiranandani Hospital said, “With an increased interest in sports and exercise in today’s era, sports injuries have become very common. Injuries sustained during sports or exercise can limit performance of sports person and prevent him from achieving full potential. The aim of the Indian Association of Sports Medicine annual conference is to provide a leading commentary and education on injury treatment and prevention to help sports enthusiasts to keep performing.”

The sessions will include topics related to drug testing and doping in sports, Brain mapping in sports, Sporting injuries in children and adolescents, Cardiac assessment of the athlete, Sports nutrition and hydration, Sports injuries and rehabilitation in wheel chair athletes, Psychological rehabilitation in sports. In its entirety the event will focus on varied areas of fitness that include injuries related to hip, knee, shoulder, ankle among others.
