Johnson & Johnson Medical’s Managing Director, Sushobhan Dasgupta elected as the President of NATHEALTH

India’s healthcare apex body NATHEALTH announced its new leadership team for the year 2015-16. Sushobhan Dasgupta, MD, Johnson & Johnson Medical India has been elected as the President of the federation for one-year term. He took over from Shivinder Mohan Singh, Executive Vice Chairman, Fortis Healthcare.

Dasgupta, whilst thanking the outgoing President of NATHEALTH, Singh warmly welcomed Rahul Khosla, MD, Max India and Chairman, Max Healthcare Institute as Senior VP-NATHEALTH, and other members of leadership team, A Krishna Kumar, Vice Chairman & MD, Philips India as VP-NATHEALTH, Suyash Borar CEO, The Calcutta Medical Research Institute as Secretary-NATHEALTH and Preetha Reddy, Executive Vice Chairperson, Apollo Hospitals Group as Treasurer-NATHEALTH. This team, along with Anjan Bose, Secretary General, will lead NATHEALTH in its goal to create a robust platform for helping in the long term growth and sustainability of India’s healthcare sector.

Speaking on emerging priorities Dasgupta said, “One of the major challenges facing India today is providing affordable healthcare to millions of unserved and underserved patients. Consider the rapidly changing demographics of an aging population, a growing middle class, the persistence of chronic diseases and the scale and complexity of the challenge is magnified. Even though healthcare is our greatest challenge, it is also the greatest hope for a better future. At NATHEALTH, we are committed to work towards reaching our goal of providing accessible and affordable healthcare for everyone. “

Dasgupta articulated the Vision of NATHEALTH, “Be the credible and unified voice in improving access and quality of healthcare”. He also emphasised that NATHEALTH activities and initiatives will be in line with it’s six Mission pillars

  • Help develop and optimise healthcare infrastructure
  • Help shape policy and regulations
  • Help bridge the skill and capacity gap
  • Encourage innovation
  • Support best practices and promote accreditation.

Bose said, “We welcome our new leadership team which will continue to work for the benefit of the people of our great country, address relevant healthcare issues and champion the progress and development of this sector.”
