The Tele-ECG link between STS-BSF Hospital at Yelahanka and Narayana Health City in Bengaluru was inaugurated by Dr Devi Shetty Chairman, Narayana Health in the presence of Vimal Satyarthi, DIG & Commandant, Border Security Force. Dr Mukesh Saxena, IG/Director (Medical) FHQ BSF New Delhi presided over the function and Dr VG Talawar, Vice –Chancellor, Reva University, Bengaluru was the Guest of Honor.  This is the first Tele-ECG link installed for the BSF. Tele-ECG links will be established with all other BSF units across India in the next six to eight months. Narayana Health currently has more than 850 Tele-ECG links across the country.

Addressing the BSF Jawans at the inaugural function about innovation in healthcare delivery, Dr Shetty said, “There is a scarcity of access to quality healthcare and specialist doctors in the borders of our country. With innovative technology today, we are able to bridge the gap and enable better access to healthcare delivery through connected care and mobility solutions that are cost effective and simple to use.” Tele-ECG is a cost-effective and convenient tool for diagnosis and monitoring of heart diseases and thus improves quality and accessibility, especially in remote areas.

Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial to ensure sustainable medical treatment. Tele-ECG is a convenient tool to distinguish individuals with suspected heart diseases that may require urgent referral to a tertiary care hospital or even emergency medical intervention.

BSF at Yelahanka in Bengaluru has organised various health awareness and screening camps in association with Narayana Health City. Doctors from Narayana Health provide specialty consultation and medical advice to the troops of BSF and their families. A free breast cancer screening camp using mobile mammography was held recently apart from screening camps for renal disease as well as bone and joint pain apart from free heart check-up camps.
