Till now 100 face shields have been developed
Government ITI Cuttack has developed face shields, a most effective PPE to protect healthcare workers and others from COVID-19. According to ITI Cuttack members, the A4 sized OPH can be produced affordably which in turn provides good value to both the wearer and patients. They are easy to sanitise and the foam line makes them comfortable and the elastic bands help to keep them firm around the head of the user.
The shields cover the face, eyes, nose and neck and are useful to reduce transmission significantly in the community of medical staff, ambulance drivers, health workers, police and other people dealing with contaminated patients.
Till now 100 face shields have been prepared by our trainers, informs Dr Hrushikesh Mohanty, Principal, Govt. ITI Cuttack.
As compared to the cloth masks, where only some filtration of virus sized aerosol particles is provided, the shield forms a reinforced barrier and reduces the risk of contamination by approximately 92 per cent and is cost-effective too.
“The face shield masks were distributed to doctors, police, officials of the Cuttack Municipality Corporation, the office of the DM Cuttack, petrol pumps and vegetable vendors, cleaning staff of Cuttack Municipality as part of their social,” said Dr Mohanty.
According to Dr Mohanty, the initiative was highly appreciated by doctors and Ananya Das, IAS, Commissioner CMC.
Dr Mohanty added, “Our team considered this as a small token of tribute to our warriors who are handling COVID-19 patients.”
