Dr Mohan’s Diabetes Specialties Centre (DMDSC) have taken facilitating smooth flow of patient check-ups and online consultations with telemedicine during the COVID-19 lockdown period. It is imperative and crucial to ensure regular follow ups for all patients and see that there is zero disruption to the ongoing treatment for all people with diabetes.

Telemedicine is the best platform where doctors can reach out to even patients in remote areas. In order to ensure strict adherence to the method and process involved in various aspects of treatment, counselling and consultation, there is a dire need of this technology and platform which has already been perfected at DMDSC. Coupled with servicing patients with the requisite amount of diagnostic tests and reports for analysis, this kind of intervention has proved to be successful during this COVID -19.

Commenting on this, Dr V Mohan, Chairman and Chief Diabetologist, Dr Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre said “Patients must not panic. However they have to be properly guided and advised on the best course of action during these tough times of lockdown. Through this online platform of telemedicine, we were able to seamlessly transition into providing the requisite treatment and diagnosis for our patients with diabetes. Several hundred tele-consultations have already been done, preceded by home visits for blood tests and followed by supply of medicines to their homes. A major point to be noted is that COVID-19 infection complicates the overall health parameters for elderly people in general and those with diabetes in particular. We are doing our best to overcome all these loopholes and cover the gaps of diagnosing and treating patients with diabetes. Thus we are confident that many people will benefit by such endeavours. It will also definitely ensure continuity in terms of servicing patients with diabetes and its related complications.”

Dr RM Anjana, Managing Director and Diabetologist, DMDSC adds, “We also have to maintain social distancing during these proceedings and avoid the spread of COVID-19 infection and overcome the technical and logistical challenges in implementing telemedicine. However, this seems to be the best possible answer in facilitating treatment, diagnosis, and consultation during such periods of a global pandemic.COVID-19 has thus proved to be a game-changer in this field.”
