Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Science & Technology and Earth Sciences will inaugurate the conference at 11:00 am on August 17. Dr Randeep Guleria, Director, AIIMS and Chairman, CII Public Health Council would also speak at the inaugural session.
The global impact of COVID-19 has overwhelmed large sections of the world’s healthcare infrastructure, and the ongoing threat it presents has been the most demanding on our public health systems. The present scenario is of grave concern to stakeholders in the country as it has caused disruptions to supply chains to every segment of the economy. It is of fundamental concern to strategise the restoration of the nation’s healthcare infrastructure, and research & development facilities.
The Indian healthcare scenario presents a spectrum of contrasting landscapes. The urban-rural gap in healthcare infrastructure seems to be ever growing, presenting us with an even more complex present. Although the pandemic has helped improve India’s healthcare infrastructure as both the government and private players have had to incur vast amounts of unplanned expenditure, the overall ecosystem still faces a multiplicity of challenges.
There are several key areas that need to be addressed regarding the healthcare ecosystem. There have been strides taken to address the idea of affordable and quality healthcare through various flagship programmes such as Ayushman Bharat, however, areas such as accessibility, absence of human power, accountability and the lack of awareness among the general population continues to hinder the progress of the overall ecosystem.
The tailwinds and opportunities presented to the Indian healthcare sector due to the COVID-19 pandemic are innumerable, and CII’s India Healthcare Week aims to redefine the Indian healthcare ecosystem.
With 30+ knowledge sessions on a wide range of issues, ranging from making India an attractive destination for med tech and charting its route towards Atmamirbhar, to the growing role of AYUSH and it’s integration into the nation’s public health programmes, to the need to strengthen our public health delivery, CII’s India Healthcare Week is envisaged as a unique health platform converging multiple stake holders in the health eco system to deliberate and discuss the future of health.
CII’s India Healthcare Week 2020 is also expected to host experts from the US, the UK, Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and many other countries coming together in this digital thought leadership and exhibition business platform to discuss health, technology, ayurveda and how these systems can work together to deliver low cost care to India and to the world.
