BLK Super Speciality Hospital has announced that the high-end Fibroscan facility is available in the hospital. Fibroscan is useful in early detection of liver diseases. It is used to quantify hepatic fibrosis and fatty infiltration of liver (fatty liver) in a totally non-invasive manner – a painless alternative for liver biopsy. “Fibroscan technology allows accurate assessment of liver fibrosis and fatty liver resulting from all pathologies including metabolic syndrome and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, chronic viral hepatitis, diabetes, obesity and alcohol intake,” says Dr JC Vij, Director & HOD – Centre for Digestive and Liver Diseases, BLK SSH.
“It can monitor the progression or regression of an individual’s liver disease. This allows treatment to be tailored to the individuals need. Being a noninvasive procedure it can be repeated without any risk of complications,” Dr Vij further added.
