HIMSS Analytics Asia Pacific announced that Apollo Specialty Hospital, Nandanam, Chennai has achieved Stage 6 of the HIMSS Analytics Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM). It is the fourth hospital from the Apollo Hospitals Group to achieve the benchmark.

HIMSS Analytics developed the EMR Adoption Model in 2005 as a methodology for evaluating the progress and impact of electronic medical record systems for hospitals in the HIMSS Analytics Database. Tracking their progress on an 8-stage scale (0-7), hospitals can review implementation and utilisation of IT applications. Stage 7, the highest stage, represents presence of an advanced electronic patient record, paperless environment and capability for community healthcare information exchange.

Sangita Reddy, Joint MD, Apollo Hospitals Group said, “A robust HIS impacts patient care and it is heartening that HIMSS and the clinician teams across Apollo Hospitals have been very successful in enhancing care outcomes and in developing architecture for greater efficiencies”.

“Congratulations to Apollo Specialty Hospital, Nandanam for achieving EMRAM Stage 6 accreditation in Asia Pacific,” said Jeremy Bonfini, VP of HIMSS International. “With four hospitals at EMRAM Stage 6, the Apollo Hospitals Group continues to serve as a role model that offers valuable best practices, insights and guidance for other healthcare providers in the region to emulate.”

Apollo Specialty Hospital, Nandanam will be officially recognised for their achievement at HIMSS AsiaPac14 – Digital Healthcare Week in Singapore, from 15 to 18 September 2014.
